SITE VISIT
A site visit has been arranged for Wednesday December, 14th 2011 at 02.00PM prompt, and assembly point will be the US Embassy main reception plot 1577 Ggaba road.
All interested potential bidders will be required to confirm participation in site visit, AND submit names of participants by 12.00PM local time Tuesday 13th December 2011 via email to KwikirizaRX@state.gov and CC KiyingiDX@state.gov & NaigaJV@state.gov

The US Government intends to award a contract/Purchase Order to the responsible professional company submitting acceptable proposal at the lowest price. We intend to award a contract/Purchase Order based on initial proposals, without holding discussions, although we may hold discussions with companies in the competitive range if there is need to do so.
STATEMENT OF WORK FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF ADDITIONAL CONCRETE DRAINAGE CHANNEL AT THE EMBASSY (SOUTH CAC)
1.0 INTRODUCTION
1.1 The U.S. Embassy in Kampala has a requirement to obtain Construction Services for the construction of a reinforced Concrete Drainage Channel at the Chancery. The proposed repair shall comprise Jerk hammering of existing 200mm thick reinforced concrete/excavation and damp to spoil. Supply and install 900mm reinforced concrete culvert. Vibrated insitu Concrete shall be Grade C35 finished with surface hardener. Concrete
1.2 The Embassy has the right to inspect and test all services called for by the contract, to the extent practicable at all times and places during the term of the contract. The Facilities Maintenance Department may perform quality assurance inspections (QAI) and test during construction to confirm the work is installed according to the SOW.
2.0 RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR
2.1 The Contractor shall be responsible for the professional quality, technical accuracy, and the coordination of all construction and other services furnished under this contract. The Contractor shall, without additional compensation, correct or revise any errors or deficiencies in its construction and other services.
2.2 The Contractor is responsible for the safety and shall comply with all local labor laws, regulations, customs and practices pertaining to labor, safety and similar matter. The Contractor shall promptly report all accidents resulting in lost time, disabling, or fatal injuries to the Embassy.
3.0 CONSTRUCTION REQUIREMENTS
3.1 No construction shall begin until approval of the Warranty and Bill of materials is accepted by the Embassy
3.2 The Contractor shall be responsible for the required materials, equipment and personnel to manage, administer, and supervise the project. All workmanship shall be of good quality and performed in a skillful manner as determined by the Embassy.
3.3 All materials and equipment incorporated into the project shall be new. The Contractor shall transport and safeguard all materials and equipment for construction.
3.4 The Contractor shall at all times keep the work area free from accumulation of waste materials. Upon completing construction, the Contractor shall remove all temporary facilities and leave the project site in a clean and in orderly condition acceptable to the Embassy.
4.0 SPECIFICATONS
4.1 Demolitions: Using appropriate equipment; Carefully Break existing concrete paving approximately 200mm thick to expose the sub-grade. Excavate for drain channel average depth 1.2m. Inspect the sub-grade for deterioration and make good. Compact the sub-grade to about 90% MDD and provide 150mm thick sand/gravel blinding for base of drain channel.
4.2 Cement: Cement for works shall be ordinary Portland cement (Power Plus) should be kept on pallets and protected from water and dampness.
4.3 Supply and Install 900mm diameter reinforced concrete culvert.
4.4 Cast 150mm thick reinforced concrete with A142 BRC cover on top of culvert.
4.5 Fabricate and install scour checks in stone pitching channel at 4m intervals.
4.6 Cure the concrete for 7 Days
5.0 DELIVERABLE SCHEDULE
5.1 The Contractor shall commence work under this contract promptly, execute the work diligently, and achieve final completion of the project including final cleanup of the premises within the period specified.
5.2.1 Milestones:
Construction Begins Within 3 Days of Award
Final Cleanup Begins 1 day before Placing Concrete
Construction Completion 5 days
6.0 SECURITY
6.1 This is a non-classified project. The work to be performed under this contract requires that the Contractor, its employees and sub—contractors personnel information for review by the Embassy.
