Emergency Message – Planned Demonstrations

U.S. citizens traveling and residing in Uganda are advised of the heightened potential for anti-American demonstrations throughout Uganda on Friday, September 21, and in the upcoming days due to the current wave of anti-Western sentiment. U.S. citizens are urged to keep a low profile and avoid unnecessary travel. If you observe a protest or crowd forming, immediately leave the area and go to a secure location.

The U.S. Embassy in Kampala encourages U.S. citizens to enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) for the most up-to-date security information. Keep all of your information in STEP up to date by maintaining your current phone numbers and email addresses where you can be reached in case of an emergency.
