Kisoro District/Ugandan Border
The U.S. Embassy in Kampala wishes to alert American citizens of reports of fighting in the area southwest of Kisoro District, where Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo border Uganda. Ugandan authorities report that refugees have been fleeing into Uganda in the vicinity of the Bunagana border crossing.
The Bunagana border crossing is west of the town of Kisoro and in the vicinity of Mgahinga National Park. American citizens residing in or traveling through Kisoro District are advised to exercise caution, and check with local Ugandan security officials or the U.S. Embassy in Kampala regarding the security situation along the border area.
