President Museveni Meets with U.S. Military Delegation
Kampala, Uganda
President Yoweri K. Museveni met with Major General Timothy F. Ghormley, Commanding General, Combined Joint Task—Horn of Africa and Rear Admiral Richard Hunt, prospective commander, while the two U.S. military officers were visiting Kampala this week.
The President and his American guests discussed regional security issues and collaborative efforts in the region.
The mission of the Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa, based at Camp Lemonier, Djibouti, is to deny safe haven to would-be terrorist activity while providing humanitarian assistance throughout the Horn by building or renovating schools and clinics, offering medical and veterinarian assistance, drilling wells and providing military-to-military training to host nations.
The Combined Joint Task force operates in several countries in North-east Africa, including Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Seychelles, Uganda, and also Yemen.
“We are providing humanitarian and community assistance throughout the region, one village, one person, at a time,” said Major General Ghormley. “We are waging peace just as hard as we can to win the hearts and minds of the people in this region.”
