The United States Government Supports the Islamic Community in Uganda
U.S. Embassy Acting Deputy Chief of Mission, Charles Morrill, hands over food items to Muslim leaders at the Old Kampala Mosque.
On August 15, 2012, U.S. Mission Uganda donated food items worth more than $10,000 to the Islamic community at the Kibuli and Old Kampala Mosques. The donation was in support of the Ugandan Islamic community during the Holy Month of Ramadan. Items donated included: cooking oil, wheat flour, maize flour, beans, sugar, and rice.
Speaking at the donation ceremonies, U.S. Embassy Acting Deputy Chief Of Mission, Charles Morrill said, "This contribution from the American people is meant to assist Muslims during the Holy Month of Ramadan… (A)t this time of prayer and reflection, I hope that your prayers will be answered and your families and communities strengthened, and that this Ramadan may bring you peace, happiness and every blessing."
The United States Government continues its commitment to engage Muslims in this country on the basis of mutual interest and mutual respect.
