Nancy Brady Speaks to Ugandan Youth on Empowerment, Mentorship, and Leadership
Answering President Obama’s call to engage with youth, U.S. Mission Uganda invited an expert in public health and a well-known youth advocate, Nancy Brady, to address youth audiences around Uganda from September 24-28, 2012.
During her visit, Ms. Brady toured central and eastern Uganda, where she spoke to diverse youth audiences about empowerment, mentorship, and leadership. In Kampala, she met with the Embassy's 30-member Youth Advisors to Washington at an event co-hosted with the Ambassador. She advised these youth to use their leadership, professional, and creative skills to develop their own solutions to problems.
In the eastern town of Mbale, Ms. Brady spoke to young community leaders at the American Corner at Mbale Public Library. At the Islamic University in Uganda, Ms. Brady addressed students and answered questions on religious tolerance and interfaith dialogue. In the eastern town of Tororo, she spoke secondary school students at the Tororo Girls School, inspiring the girls to stay in school and believe in themselves.
