OPIC to host “Housing Africa” Conference in South Africa (May 2-4)
Lawrence Spinelli, Director of Public Affairs for the U.S. Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), will brief Ugandan-based media about OPIC’s upcoming “Housing Africa” conference, as well as broader issues of OPIC programs and U.S. investment in Uganda. The press briefing will take place at the U.S. Embassy (Plot 1577, Ggaba Road) on Tuesday, March 28 at 1:30 PM.
“Housing Africa” is an international investment conference focusing on the housing sector in sub-Saharan Africa that will be held May 2-4, 2006 in Cape Town, South Africa. The conference will bring together leading housing experts, U.S. businesses and financial institutions actively investing in the housing sector, legal experts, private equity fund managers, and U.S. and African senior government officials.
The Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) is the primary U.S. government agency responsible for supporting U.S. private sector investment in the developing world through its finance and insurance programs. OPIC’s mission is to assist the flow of investment to developing countries and encourage the growth of emerging economies.
Recognizing the important role that housing plays in fostering economic development, OPIC is committed to expanding the availability of housing and the development of mortgage markets worldwide.
