The United States Mission to Uganda sends its best wishes to the Muslim communities in Uganda as they enter the month of Ramadan. Ramadan Kareem!

More than 5 million Muslims – attending one of over 1,200 mosques -- in the United States join you in reflecting upon the wisdom and guidance that comes with faith, upon the responsibility human beings have to one another and to God, and upon values of selflessness, charity, and compassion. These values, which unite Muslims and non-Muslims alike, remind us of our common pursuit of justice, progress, tolerance, and the dignity of all human beings.

President Obama once said: Ramadan is a reminder that Islam has always been part of America.  He also noted that: true partnerships require cooperation in all areas – particularly those that can make a positive difference in peoples’ daily lives, including education, science and technology, health, and entrepreneurship. These are fields in which Muslim communities have helped play a pioneering role throughout history.

At this time of prayer and reflection, we hope that your prayers will be answered, that your families and communities will be strengthened, and that Ramadan brings you peace, happiness, and every blessing.

May our two nations, working together with faith and determination, share these truths with all mankind. May God’s peace be upon you.
